dan j ruppel (he/him/his) is a performer, a researcher, a translator, and a teacher. He is currently Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre at Susquehanna University. In all of these roles, he works at the knots between live performance and documentation, looking at how we document our lives, and experience “liveness” through documents. His work takes many forms: scholarly articles, professional coaching sessions, singalongs, dance parties, community dramaturgy, partner acrobatics, web-videos, and sometimes something that looks a lot like “theatre.”

This blog features some documents of performances he’s done in the past and ones he is doing right now – here, with you. Sometimes the two blend into one another. Maybe that’s the best way he can describe his work. He’s happy you came by to be a part of it.

dan j ruppel holds a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies from Brown University.
